My name is Monika Papp, I am a Galen Canine Myotherapist and founder of Pawz and Relax. Even though dogs have always had a special place in my heart and in my life it took me a long time to find the perfect way to work with them as well. I worked a couple of years as a teacher and then I started working in ophthalmic services. I knew all along that something was missing. Fortunately I came across Galen Canine Myotherapy, went for one of their workshops and immediately after I enrolled to study to become a practitioner. It is a great way to help these wonderful creatures to live their life to the fullest and the best quality possible. I am fully insured and will only accept cases with veterinary consent.

we are based in horley, surrey and we cover the surrounding area (approximately 25 mile radius)

Our Services

Pawz and Relax offers Galen Canine Myotherapy and photizo LED Red light therapy as complementary treatments for your dog with using several targeted massage techniques, soft tissue manipulation and LED Red light therapy in the comfort of your own home. Most pet insurers will cover the cost of complementary therapy for your dog if they have been referred for treatment by a registered therapist or veterinary surgeon. If you wish to claim for your dog’s treatment, please discuss with your insurance company in advance of the appointment

Photizo Light Therapy (LED Red light therapy)

It relieves pain, stimulates cells to repair and heal, reduces swelling and inflammation, and stimulates the immune system in acute traumatic conditions. It is especially effective in treating chronic pain and inflammatory conditions associated with arthritic conditions and overuse injuries in animals. It gives the tissue the opportunity to start the healing process if possible, or in chronic conditions to maintain pain-free periods. The treatment will stimulate optimum cell condition (bone, nerve, capsule, cartilage and muscle tissue) to maintain healthy tissue. This may help to prevent further degeneration of tissues like nerves, bone/joints and blood vessels.

 LED Red light therapy is perfect for treating the followings:

3B LASER THERAPY with energy laser

Energy Lasers use selected wavelengths of laser light to effectively stimulate key molecules in the animal’s tissue. Years of Veterinary research have identified the ideal wavelengths, energy levels, and frequencies that positively stimulate cellular metabolism, accelerating and enhancing the animal’s own healing processes and reparative abilities. The laser light penetrates deep into the musculoskeletal tissues and accelerates cell metabolism by increasing local blood flow, nutrient absorption, cell division, and expedites the excretion of local waste products.

• I work with your dog at ground level, ensuring that your dog will be comfortable and relaxed with you present in the room.

• As Galen Myotherapists, we follow the Positive P.A.C.T © methodology which means we are trained to handle dogs in a way that gives them choice about their treatment. They will always have the option to leave the area of treatment for a break and have a little think.

• I never use any restraining methods, and will not muzzle your dog.  As a Galen canine myotherapist I was trained to read body language and dogs always communicate their pain or discomfort during treatment. When we respect that we can form a trusting relationship with our furry clients.

• I like working closely with the owners and get them involved in the process. I offer advice on future management and possible changes in the routine and environment.

Veterinary Consent

The Veterinary Surgery (Exemptions) Order 1962 was introduced to take legitimate canine complementary therapies into account – allowing for the treatment of an animal by physiotherapy, but only under the direction, supervision and on the recommendation of the treating veterinarian who has diagnosed the condition. ‘Physiotherapy’ in this case is defined as including all kinds of manipulative therapy, including Galen Canine Myotherapy – therefore providing your dog has first been seen by a veterinary surgeon who is happy to consent to treatment Pawz and Relax is compliant with the Act.
